Every email campaign starts with filling a subscription form on a website by a visitor. And the first problem to solve is how to convince these visitors to leave their email address in the form to receive your newsletter.
The most recent answer is: offer a freebie – free ebook, free report, free software or free course. But now you've got another problem – if they must register for your gift, it is not free anymore because there is a price – your email.
Many internet surfers count this approach not so ethical and they are doing the only thing they can – subscribe-download-unsubscribe. I did it many times, especially as an answer to a squeeze page fans.
I am actively marketing forth year now and I have NEVER received anything valuable after subscribing on a squeeze page.
Usually marketers, who are using this method, are totally ignorant about copywriting, seo, web development and all these crucial and important aspects of the web marketing business.
They learn 100-200 terms from the web business vocabulary and start writing these stupid 200 words articles all pointing to a squeeze pages.
Another thing they are doing is to write under several different pen-names because they are trying to hide themselves behind multiple personalities.
It is questionable for me how do they receive an expert status, but this is problem of the article directory owners because the more 'squeezers' like these, the low goes the directory credibility.
And if you stay on such a list little longer, your email account will be flooded with countless 'killer offers' – the internet garbage of any kind like PLR packages.
Actually, I wanted to show you that through squeeze page tactics you will get only untargeted subscribers.
Such visitors and subscribers are not motivated to remain on your list and to expect and receive additional information, because they were only interested in the freebie.
This aggressive strategy of collecting email addresses is not successful one and the ones that are applying it will never tell you their unsubscribe rate because it is very high for sure.
Not even one true marketing expert like Ken Evoy, Chris Malta, Perry Marshall, James Martell, Derek Gehl and many more, are using squeeze pages because they produce nothing but 'easy come – easy go' type of activity.
So, how to find targeted visitors that will want to subscribe?
Combine the power of technology with your knowledge and offer 5-7 part email course delivered by your autoresponder. But don't offer them those 'featured' articles that they can find everywhere online submitted to hundreds of directories.
If you can not deliver unique valuable content, don't bother with email marketing just because someone has said so.
Work on your website or blog, build content, post to forums and blogs, make link exchanges (there is a much better link technique, called PAD?) and teach yourself along the way.
If you are not ready, you will not be able to supply what your subscribers are expecting from you, your list will be close to zero all the time and you are going to leave the stage too early.
So:
- Build content rich website first
- Prepare your own quality theme related 5-7 parts email course
- Put the subscribe form above the fold of your site
- Communicate with your visitors and become a recourse for them
Easy as pie.
